A group of nearly 30 Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) from Greater Noida recently had a meeting with the CEO of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) to discuss important civic issues. These RWAs expressed their concerns about various problems that residents are facing. One of the main issues is related to water supply. They mentioned that the water quality is not good, and there's not enough water coming to people's homes. Despite the fact that water bills go up by 10% every year, there is still low water pressure in many areas.
The meeting took place on August 7 and was attended by the GNIDA CEO NG Ravi along with other officials. Devendra Tiger, the president of the Federation of RWAs in Greater Noida, explained that they discussed 3-4 major problems that people in Greater Noida are dealing with. Besides the water supply issue, they talked about the lack of proper garbage collection, problems with sanitation, and the absence of a dedicated policy for dealing with dogs in the city.
Tiger shared that the situation with water is not good at all. In some places, people are receiving dirty water, and in other areas, the water pressure is so low that even though the water meter is on, there's no actual water supply. He also mentioned that chlorine, which is important for clean water, is not being added to the supply. Despite people paying their water bills regularly and facing an increase in the tariff each year, the authority is not able to provide satisfactory water services.
Apart from water problems, the residents also raised concerns about the lack of proper sanitation in residential areas. They pointed out that despite the increasing number of mosquitoes and cases of diseases like dengue and malaria, the health department of the authority is not doing enough. There's also an issue with garbage collection – sometimes the garbage is not being picked up on time, and it's left on the roads.
One additional problem highlighted by the residents is the lack of a clear policy for dealing with dogs in the city. They explained that there are often incidents of stray or pet dogs biting residents, and without a dedicated dog policy, it's hard to address these situations.
In response to these concerns, ACEO Anand Vardhan promised that the water issue would be addressed within 15 days. The CEO of GNIDA, NG Ravi, assured the residents that action will be taken soon regarding the problems with fogging, dogs, and garbage. He mentioned that tenders for the required work will be released shortly, and visible progress will be seen on the ground.
In conclusion, a group of RWAs from Greater Noida met with the CEO of GNIDA to discuss civic issues that residents are facing. These issues range from poor water quality and low water pressure to problems with garbage collection and a lack of a dog policy. While the officials have promised to take action on these concerns, the residents are still waiting for visible improvements on the ground.
