Jharkhand's Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, unveiled the ambitious 'Abua Awas Yojna' on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day. This new initiative, worth Rs 15,000 crore, is aimed at providing housing for the underprivileged within the next two years. As he hoisted the national flag at Morabadi Ground, Soren emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening the state and fulfilling its pledges.
Critiquing the Central government's lack of support during times of drought, Soren highlighted the state's efforts to aid farmers through schemes like the Chief Minister Drought Relief Scheme and Jharkhand Agriculture Loan Waiver Scheme. Despite the absence of anticipated assistance, the state government endeavoured to provide relief, demonstrating its dedication to its citizens.
Soren reaffirmed his promise to ensure three-room houses for all residents of the state and unveiled the 'Abua Awas Yojna' to make this a reality. The scheme, funded entirely by the state with an allocation of Rs 15,000 crore, aims to provide homes to those in need. He underlined the government's commitment to building a robust Jharkhand, involving the public in the developmental process to uplift marginalized sections, including laborers, farmers, tribals, backward classes, and Dalits.
The Chief Minister highlighted various measures undertaken by the government, including plans to fill around 38,000 job vacancies, prioritizing local candidates. Addressing unemployment concerns, Soren introduced the Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana, a skill training initiative for youth. The government's commitment to economic empowerment was further emphasized through the Mukhyamantri Rozgar Srijan Yojana, which facilitates affordable loans for self-employment among marginalized youth, promoting business start-ups.
In infrastructure development, Soren announced the Jharkhand Competitive Examination Bill 2023, aimed at ensuring transparent and equitable selection processes for competitive exams, thereby securing the future of the state's youth. The government's commitment to farmers is evident through a range of initiatives, including the Birsa Sinchai Koop Yojna, focused on well-digging, and projects to address water and irrigation challenges in specific districts.
The commitment to rural development continues with the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide clean drinking water to 61 lakh rural families by 2024. The economic landscape is set to transform with plans for the first hydrogen engine plant in Jamshedpur and the ambitious goal of generating 4000 MW of solar power in the next five years.
Furthermore, Soren highlighted efforts to promote Jharkhand's culture and tradition globally, exemplified by the successful 'Jharkhand Adivasi Mahotsav'. Infrastructure projects also feature prominently, with the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna focusing on road construction and the Chief Minister's Gram Setu Yojna aiming to build 70 bridges.
