Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled a novel housing scheme to uplift the disadvantaged left unaided by existing government initiatives, ensuring housing for all in the state. He set forth an ambitious goal to double the per capita income by 2030 and projected that Madhya Pradesh's economy would flourish to Rs 45 lakh crore by the same year. During an Independence Day event in Bhopal, Chouhan asserted that the per capita income would rise from the current Rs 1.40 lakh to Rs 2.80 lakh within seven years. He emphasized the state's commitment to providing solid dwellings for all citizens, referencing the construction of 44 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and revealing plans for an additional 22 lakh houses under Awas Plus.
Chouhan introduced the Mukhyamantri Jan Awas Yojana, a new initiative to offer free homes to those who remain excluded from the Awas Plus scheme. Significantly, he confirmed that the state will fill 25,000 teaching positions as it approaches assembly polls by the end of the year. Reflecting on the state's progress, Chouhan contrasted the past state of affairs when Madhya Pradesh was among the 'BIMARU' states lacking basic amenities. He underscored the eradication of dacoits and naxals as well as the dismantling of the SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) network.
The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, hailing India's global influence. He outlined the launch of the 'Mukhyamatri Seekho-Kamao Yojana,' which focuses on skill development and earning opportunities for youth. Chouhan highlighted Madhya Pradesh's remarkable strides, noting that the budget size escalated from Rs 23,000 crore to Rs 3.14 lakh crore. He envisioned expanding foreign-bound exports from Rs 7,000 crore to Rs 1 lakh crore by 2030 while boosting the state's economy to Rs 45 lakh crore.
Laying emphasis on progress, Chouhan underlined the upliftment of 1.30 crore individuals from below the poverty line and aspired to elevate another 1 crore from the same category. He projected wheat production of 10 metric tonnes by 2030, irrigation for 65 lakh hectares, and a surge in power generation to 38,000 MW. Chouhan also revealed plans for 'Unity Mall' in Ujjain, a unique commercial complex costing Rs 284 crore catering to handicrafts and items from the 'one district, one product' initiative. He mentioned the transfer of Rs 2.70 lakh crore to farmers' bank accounts in the last three years and highlighted welfare schemes such as 'Ladli Laxmi' and 'Ladli Behna' targeting women and girls.
In essence, Chouhan's announcement echoed a determined resolve to propel Madhya Pradesh to the forefront of economic growth and social well-being. His comprehensive vision of an equitable and prosperous future, coupled with welfare schemes and development strategies where every citizen thrives, serves as a beacon of optimism for the state's journey ahead.
