Amazon founder Jeff Bezos purchases a home in “Billionaire Bunker” Indian Creek Island, Miami

Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder, is acquiring a residence on a secluded, artificial island in Miami called the "Billionaire Bunker." This island is becoming a hub for famous figures like Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner. The property Bezos is purchasing is priced at $68 million and features a three-bedroom waterfront home on a 2.8-acre plot. After stepping down as Amazon's CEO in 2021, Bezos has been focusing on philanthropy and various ventures. According to records from Miami-Dade property listings, the home was previously owned by MTM Star International. While the county's website doesn't indicate Bezos as the owner, it does confirm the property's sale in June.

According to county documents, the property was formerly purchased for $1.4 million in 1982. The residence spans 9,300 square feet and includes a swimming pool. Bezos is familiar with Miami, having completed his education at Palmetto High School.

The island in question is commonly referred to as the "Billionaire Bunker" due to its reputation as a haven for the wealthy and famous. Its official name is Indian Creek Island, and it's located in Biscayne Bay, near Miami, Florida. Indian Creek Island is known to be an extremely exclusive and private enclave. It is home to a number of celebrities, athletes, business tycoons and prominent figures.  It is a gated community with its own police force, which helps maintain the privacy and safety of its residents. The island boasts an exclusive golf course, which adds to its allure for those who are fond of the sport. Access to the island is restricted, with only one main road connecting it to the mainland. This contributes to the overall sense of seclusion and privacy. Properties on Indian Creek Island have consistently held their value and often appreciated over time, making it an attractive investment for the ultra-wealthy.
