Indore district records a 16 percent rise in property registration revenue

Indore district stands out with an impressive achievement, amassing a substantial revenue of Rs 689 crore from property sales. This record-high figure surpasses all other 15 districts in the Indore and Ujjain divisions during the initial quarter of the financial year, including July. This impressive surge is largely attributed to the surging demand for both residential units and commercial spaces. Notably, the earnings derived from property registration this year have surpassed those of the corresponding period a year earlier, boasting a 16 percent increase. The registrar's office data reveals that more than 50,000 properties were officially registered in the Indore district from April to July 2023, resulting in noteworthy earnings of Rs 689 crore.

The Indore landscape has undergone transformative changes, including the expansion of the Metro line network, attracting an influx of corporates, industries, information technology companies, and infrastructure development. Industry insiders have confirmed that this has directly influenced property prices, causing them to rise. Deputy Inspector General of Registration for the Indore region, Balkrishna More, predicts a continued upward trajectory in property sales, particularly with the upcoming festive season, starting with Rakshabandhan.

More also remarked that they have opened up more registration slots due to the influx of documents for registration. Notably, other districts within the Indore and Ujjain divisions, such as Shajapur, Khargone, and Agar-Malwa, have also experienced a substantial increase in property sales during the April–July 2023 period, compared to the same time last year. The data from the registrar's office indicates that revenue from property registrations in Shajapur, Khargone, and Agar-Malwa districts surged by 48 percent, 39 percent, and 30 percent, respectively, during the same time frame.

Over the past one to two years, property prices have experienced a substantial increase, especially in locations such as the Super Corridor, Indore-Ujjain Road, Rau, and their surrounding areas. This is in response to the first phase of development that these areas are undergoing. Gopal Goyal, Chairman of CREDAI Indore, emphasizes that the increased demand has spurred numerous developers to initiate new projects, focusing on built-up spaces and commercial areas. The influx of corporates into the city has led to a growing demand for office spaces, underscoring the changing dynamics of the real estate landscape in Indore.
