Over the weekend, Gautam Buddha Nagar residents fervently demanded solutions to long-standing issues relating to flat registries and various civic challenges.
Homebuyers, representing around 25 societies in Greater Noida West, persistently staged demonstrations to spotlight their concerns related to halted flat registries and the construction of still-unfinished housing projects. The crux of their protests centred around the urgency to actualize the government's commitments. These buyers insist on swift registrations for those whose homes are complete and demand the acceleration of pending construction projects.
Abhishek Kumar, the president of the New Era Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA), elucidated the gravity of the situation. He acknowledged some progress in response from authorities, with the commencement of registries for a few properties. However, he stressed that these measures pale in comparison to the vastness of the issue at hand. Kumar reaffirmed that protests will persist until every homebuyer secures possession of their properties. The demonstrations saw homeowners from societies including Aqua Garden, Sanskriti, Apex Golf Avenue, and more, expressing unanimous disappointment over prolonged hold-ups and incomplete paperwork that have inhibited their property possession.
Besides the public demonstrations, key meetings were held to address these issues. A significant dialogue took place between the NEFOWA delegation, GNIDA CEO Ravi Kumar NG, and Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh. The CEO ensured an active engagement in addressing both the registry and possession challenges, aiming for a swift resolution for the aggrieved buyers.
Simultaneously, another meeting was convened during the janta darbar in Sector 34's community centre. Over 30 Welfare Associations (WAs) and senior officials convened to discuss pressing civic problems. KK Jain, chairman of Sector 34 RWA, outlined problems such as rainwater logging in sectors like 23, 33, and 34 due to a wetland in Sector 51, which obstructs drain water flow, resulting in backflows that inundate residential areas. Issues regarding maintenance standards of parks, decaying open gyms, clogged sewers, and compromised drinking water quality were also brought to the fore.
