Uttar Pradesh Cabinet allocates 100 crore for the development of new townships in seven cities

The Uttar Pradesh state cabinet has approved a significant allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for the development of new townships in seven key cities. The housing department will be responsible for disbursing the funds to the respective development authorities to facilitate land acquisition and township planning. The primary objective of this scheme is to provide high-quality and legitimate residential units to urban families, with the support of local housing development authorities.
The cities benefiting from this initiative include Agra, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Bareli, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot, which are currently witnessing substantial population growth and urban expansion. The funding will be distributed in a manner where the state government will cover 50% of the land acquisition costs, while the remaining 50% will be contributed by the development authorities. Additionally, the government has specified that the seed capital provided will be returned within 20 years, with a nominal interest rate being applied.
Driven by the steady vision to proactively address housing needs and improve the living conditions of urban residents, the Chief Minister has called for the implementation of government-backed residential schemes in these seven cities. These schemes aim to provide affordable housing options equipped with essential amenities within the township complexes, catering to the diverse needs of the urban population. This forward-looking approach aligns with the state's commitment to inclusive urban development and ensuring a better quality of life for its citizens.
To maximize the impact and reach of the scheme, the government intends to foster collaboration with private developers and industry stakeholders. By leveraging the expertise and resources of all partners, the initiative seeks to create sustainable and modern housing solutions for the rapidly growing urban population in Uttar Pradesh.
The allocation of Rs 1,000 crore underscores the state's strong focus on urban infrastructure and development. The establishment of well-planned townships is poised to not only address the pressing housing needs of residents but also foster overall socio-economic growth and prosperity in these cities. The move signifies the government's unwavering dedication to building vibrant, self-sufficient, and well-connected communities that ensure a better quality of life for its citizens.
