In a proactive move to tackle the rampant issue of illegal construction, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) initiated a crackdown, demolishing eight unauthorized structures across different areas of the city. The demolition drives were carried out in zones A and D, targeting constructions that had been erected without obtaining the necessary building plan approvals.
Among the illegal structures torn down were an under-construction colony on Barewal road, five under-construction shops near Karabara chowk, and two under-construction commercial halls situated near Karabara chowk and Circular road, respectively. The civic body took stern action against these unauthorized buildings as their owners had proceeded with construction without seeking approval from the MC.
During the demolition of the illegal under-construction colony on Barewal road, the MC team also discovered an illegal sewer connection, which was promptly disconnected. The authorities became aware of the illegal construction on agricultural land during a routine inspection, prompting swift action against the violators.
Furthermore, the municipal corporation also tackled a road encroachment in the South city area, where a building owner had constructed a pavement on the road portion. The encroachment was removed as part of the MC's efforts to maintain clear and accessible public spaces.
MC Commissioner Shena Aggarwal emphasized the seriousness of the issue and directed concerned officials to take stringent action against any form of illegal construction in the city. She urged residents to adhere to the proper procedures and obtain necessary approvals from the Municipal Corporation before commencing any construction work. This measure aims to prevent future instances of unauthorized construction and maintain the city's urban planning integrity.
Illegal construction has become a pressing concern in Ludhiana, as unauthorized structures often pose safety hazards and disturb the planned development of the city. By demolishing such structures, the MC aims to deter others from engaging in illegal construction activities and promote responsible urban development.
The authorities' swift response to identify and demolish illegal constructions is a step towards reinforcing the importance of adhering to building regulations and guidelines. Proper building plan approvals are critical to ensuring that constructions are carried out in compliance with safety standards, zoning regulations, and environmental norms.
Residents are encouraged to approach the Municipal Corporation and seek guidance on the necessary approvals and permits before initiating any construction projects. The MC can provide information on the application process, documentation requirements, and fees to ensure a smooth and legal construction process.
This demolition drive sends a strong message to those involved in illegal construction that such activities will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against violators. It also highlights the significance of public awareness and cooperation in maintaining the city's aesthetics and structural integrity.
