Dubai Municipality has made a significant stride in advancing the construction industry by sealing a major deal with LINQ, a subsidiary of ALEC Engineering & Contracting (ALEC), to embark on modular construction projects. LINQ has secured a modular construction license from the Dubai Municipality, greenlighting the commencement of a pilot project for a G+6 building.
The issuance of this license marks a significant development in the construction landscape of Dubai, as LINQ is now authorized to pilot the design and construction of highly sustainable, tailor-made modular G+6 units for both commercial and residential developments. Armed with cutting-edge technology, new systems, and innovative materials, LINQ is set to revolutionize the construction process and contribute to Dubai's journey in becoming one of the world's most advanced and sustainable cities.
Ahmed Al Salami, Principal Research & Building Studies at Dubai Municipality, expressed the municipality's commitment to sustaining the city's rapid development pace while ensuring eco-friendliness and sustainability. In line with H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, Dubai Municipality seeks to foster advancements in the construction industry by supporting innovative organizations like LINQ, which are pioneering cutting-edge construction techniques such as modular construction.
Modular construction is anticipated to pave the way for faster and more controlled production of high-quality buildings that cater to diverse stakeholders, ranging from the hospitality sector to residential and commercial developments like malls and offices. Embracing this vision, LINQ offers precision-built, modern structures with a profound emphasis on sustainability and adherence to the industry's highest quality standards and best practices.
One of the cornerstones of LINQ's approach to modular construction is their utilization of BIM (Building Information Modeling) software. This sophisticated software ensures that each structure is optimally designed, using only the necessary materials with minimal waste, thereby significantly reducing the project's environmental impact. LINQ is committed to leaving a greener footprint in Dubai's construction landscape.
To accommodate the construction of modular units, LINQ will operate from its expansive 300,000 square feet manufacturing facility located in Dubai Industrial City. With a workforce of 1,000 skilled employees, the facility boasts the capacity to produce an impressive 1,900 units annually. This manufacturing prowess positions LINQ as a key player in the region, capable of transforming Dubai's construction practices and driving sustainable urban development.
