Residents of Gurugram's DLF 2, Sector 56, and Ardee City frustrated with daily power cuts

Residents in Gurugram's DLF 2, Sector 56, and Ardee City are expressing their frustration over daily unscheduled power cuts, resulting in outages lasting six to eight hours for the past two weeks. These power cuts have also impacted the water supply in the affected areas. The residents blame the DISCOM for inadequate supply and a lack of action on their repeated complaints. The problem of power infrastructure failure, low voltage, fluctuation, and tripping is prevalent, and the situation has worsened with the onset of the monsoon season.

DLF 2 residents claim that the power cuts have been ongoing since April, adversely affecting the water supply in the area. They highlight the urgent need for a major overhaul of the power infrastructure due to the increased population after the allowance of four-floor buildings. However, authorities have shown little concern regarding the issue. Residents report instances of power disruptions caused by faults in underground cables, substation failures, and issues at the powerhouse. These outages lead to water supply disruptions, leaving residents with only 20 minutes of water availability each day.

Sector 56 residents share similar grievances, stating that the power infrastructure in their area is poorly maintained. They have experienced long outages lasting up to 12 hours, with excuses from DISCOM officials ranging from breakdowns to faults at the powerhouse or malfunctioning transformers. Similarly, residents of Ardee City have reported several outages, including one that lasted from night till morning.

In response to the complaints, the DHBVN superintending engineer (circle 2), PK Chauhan, denies any power shortage and attributes the outages to local faults. While acknowledging some issues at specific substations, he assures residents that the situation is being monitored closely, especially with the ongoing smart grid project in the area.

It is important for the authorities and DISCOM to address the concerns of the affected residents promptly and take necessary actions to improve the power infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted power supply. Regular maintenance and timely resolution of faults are crucial to avoid inconvenience and ensure a reliable power and water supply for the residents of Gurugram.
