Navi Mumbai: PAPs awarded 46 plots by CIDCO in digital lottery system

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is making steady progress on the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a 1,160-hectare project encompassing 10 revenue villages in the Panel Taluka of Raigad district. As part of the land acquisition process, villagers have been required to leave their ancestral homes and have been relocated to rental accommodations.

In a recent development, CIDCO has dispersed 46 plots of land to Project Affected Persons (PAPs) linked to the NMIA. The allocation process took place at CIDCO's main office in CBD Belapur through a computerised lottery system, ensuring transparency and fairness.

Out of the 46 plots, 23 were given under the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) scheme, while the remaining 23 were assigned under the 22.5% compensation scheme. Both programs aim to compensate villagers who ceded their land for the airport's construction. An estimated 3,000 families impacted by the project have been provided a rehabilitation package by CIDCO, following the 22.5% scheme approved by the state government.

To facilitate the resettlement, CIDCO has developed the Pushpak Nagar Node adjacent to Ulwe. The landowners received compensation of Rs1,000 per square foot for constructing their new homes on the awarded plots. Additionally, they are being provided Rs 500 per square foot for rent for 18 months, a one-time special assistance of Rs 36,000, and an agricultural compensation of Rs 1,24,500 for those who surrendered their farmland. CIDCO has further extended Rs 50,000 transportation allowances to each PAP.

In conclusion, this digital plot allocation is a significant step by CIDCO to uphold its responsibility towards Project Affected Persons. The systematic and fair process, along with generous compensation and resettlement plans, illustrate their commitment to ensuring minimal disruption to the lives of those impacted by the Navi Mumbai International Airport project.
