Union Minister V K Singh pledges to monitor PMAY implementation in Tamil Nadu

Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways, and Civil Aviation, V K Singh, has pledged to monitor the implementation of the Prime Minister Awaz Yojana (PMAY) in Tamil Nadu in order to address alleged irregularities. Singh assured that the government of India maintains transparency and is open to investigating any irregularities brought to their attention. He expressed willingness to involve central agencies responsible for allocating funds to the housing scheme to monitor the situation. Singh's comments came in response to reports of irregularities in the construction of 600 houses under the PMAY scheme in Aavudaiyarkovil.

During his visit to Pudukottai, Singh attended a public meeting at Keeramangalam to discuss the achievements of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre. He also took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of nine houses in Otchampatti and visited the archaeological excavation site at Porpanakottai, where he met with party officials.

Singh emphasized that the PMAY scheme has delivered on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to providing housing for all. He praised the progress made in various social schemes under the Prime Minister's governance, stating that it is unparalleled in the history of India.

Addressing the state of Tamil Nadu, Singh highlighted the various schemes that the central government has extended to the state and urged local authorities to ensure their effective implementation. He clarified that the condition of national highways in the region remains satisfactory and dismissed claims of an excessive number of toll booths, explaining that toll booths are established based on the length of the highway, following toll rules.

Furthermore, Singh mentioned the government's interest in exploring the possibility of reviving the old Chettinad airport in Karaikudi, indicating the potential for infrastructural development in the region.
