Tamil Nadu introduces Star 3.0 Software for rapid property registrations

Tamil Nadu's commercial tax and registration minister, P Moorthy, has unveiled plans to deploy the next generation Star 3.0 software to enhance and streamline the property registration process in the region. The announcement was made at a review meeting held at the Madurai collector's office this past weekend.

With an aim to digitize all registry works in Tamil Nadu, Minister Moorthy said the registration process should ideally take no longer than 15 minutes. The incorporation of the Star 3.0 software is expected to iron out minor issues, further accelerating and simplifying the registration process.

The minister emphasized the importance of this technological leap. All transactions related to the registration process will be entirely online, eliminating the need for visitors at the sub-registrar's offices to carry any physical cash. The software's digitization efforts are part of a broader shift towards e-governance and transparency, making the overall registration process more convenient for the public.

"The Star 3.0 software will streamline and refine the registration process, cutting the red tape and making it more efficient," said Moorthy. He also encouraged the public to state the guidance value while registering properties and pay the necessary fees online, thus increasing compliance and ensuring uniformity.

The minister reassured the public that any grievances or irregularities could be reported to the Inspector General of Registration and the department's Secretary via dedicated numbers displayed at the offices. This direct access to the department's top officials is intended to maintain accountability and deter corrupt practices.

The meeting was attended by various dignitaries and officials including Madurai collector M S Sangeetha, and DIG Registration, Ravindranath.

In summary, the introduction of the Star 3.0 software in Tamil Nadu signifies a major step forward in embracing digital transformation to improve the efficiency and transparency of property registration processes. The move not only simplifies the registration process but also ensures security and transparency, further boosting public confidence in the system. The positive reception from officials and the public alike indicates high hopes for this technological revamp of the property registration process.
