HSIIDC invites bids for Global City Project: Development of civic amenities to begin

The initiation of development for civic amenities at the Global City project site is expected to commence in August. The Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has issued invitations for bids to auction three land parcels, totaling 142.5 acres, with a combined reserve price of Rs 7,817 crore.

The Global City project will be executed in two phases across a total area of 1,003 acres in sectors 36B and 37B, adjacent to the under-construction Dwarka Expressway. In the first phase, the HSIIDC plans to develop 570 acres. Among these, three land parcels measuring 78.5 acres, 23.8 acres, and 40.2 acres will be available for the first e-auction. The reserve prices for these parcels are approximately Rs 4,957 crore, Rs 1,298 crore, and Rs 1,562 crore, respectively.

Initially, the estimated cost for developing essential services and civic amenities at the project site was Rs 758 crore. However, this estimate has now increased to Rs 931 crore. Nearly 50% of the total expenditure will be allocated to the construction of a 5.5 m X 5.5 m utility tunnel. The Global City aims to become a "digging-free city" by placing all utilities within the tunnel, eliminating the need to excavate roads for repairs, maintenance, or upgrades.

The utility tunnel, which will be the second of its kind in India after GIFT City in Ahmedabad, will facilitate the extension of underground services in the future without disrupting road surfaces. According to Arun Garg, Deputy General Manager of HSIIDC, "With this utility tunnel, there will be no need for frequent road excavations when laying new services."

The Haryana government envisions Global City as the central business district of Gurgaon, incorporating advanced technology, environmentally friendly infrastructure, and both commercial and residential sectors. The project allows for mixed land-use, enabling companies to develop office spaces, residential housing, and commercial complexes in a single location.

HSIIDC serves as the developer of Global City and will oversee the provision of road networks, water supply, and other necessary infrastructure. To attract investments for the project, the state government has organized five roundtable conferences thus far, with two held in Gurgaon, two in Dubai, and one in Mumbai.
