Gurugram civic body to fix property tax data errors via camps

As per the instruction from the urban local bodies department, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) conducted correction camps for property tax data throughout the city on June 10th and 11th. Numerous grievances have been filed with the department regarding inaccurate information related to properties.

A study conducted by a private organization in January of the previous year revealed that the jurisdiction of the MCG encompasses roughly 5.14 lakh properties. After the completion of the survey, residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the newly generated property IDs, claiming that they contained inaccurate information, consequently resulting in an erroneous database of their respective properties.

MCG has arranged for the deployment of a total of 292 field personnel, consisting of versatile staff from the health wing of MCG, supervisors belonging to the sanitation wing, and clerks employed in the councillors’ offices. This group of personnel will be responsible for conducting a careful re-verification of property tax data. Following a thorough review of the surveyed properties, the chief minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, ordered a re-verification, which ultimately led to the decision being made.

Dhruv Bansal, a spokesperson of Qutub Enclave RWA, stated earlier this January that it has been a year since the surveying agency made a mistake, but the local government has yet to correct the inconsistencies in the updated property ID numbers. He further stated that they receive multiple complaints daily from the locals, reporting that they are unable to submit their property tax owing to these inaccuracies.

An official had earlier stated that majority of services for citizens of MCG, such as the creation of property IDs, addressing grievances, and paying property taxes, have been eliminated from the online property tax system. Nowadays, citizens can bring up concerns solely through the official Haryana government's No Dues Certificate (NDC) portal, ulbhryndc.org.
