Bengaluru-based real estate developer, Provident Housing, known for its strong focus on sustainability, has initiated an ambitious campaign called "1 tree per home" by conducting a massive plantation drive at one of its upcoming project sites in Bagalur, Bengaluru. This initiative marks the beginning of a month-long series of tree-planting events that will take place across four more projects. The company has pledged to plant 10% of the promised number of trees at each location. Coinciding with World Environment Day on June 5, this campaign highlights Provident's dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
The "1 tree per home" initiative aims to provide every resident family in a Provident community with a tree within the premises. The campaign underscores the company's commitment to fostering a green and sustainable environment. Throughout the month, trees will be planted at various project sites, with four located in Bengaluru and the fifth in Kochi.
The inaugural event took place at the Bagalur project site, where 13-year-old ornithology expert Krish Anand, an acclaimed figure in his field, not only participated but also delivered an inspiring talk. Provident Housing has scheduled four additional tree-planting events to be held on June 11th, 18th, 25th, and July 2nd. These events will take place at project sites encompassing nearly 5,000 residential units. By allocating space and planting 10% of the committed trees during this period, Provident Housing ensures a sustainable and eco-friendly future for its customers.
In line with the local ecosystem, Provident Housing focuses on planting indigenous tree species, including Jackfruit, Gulmohar, Wood Apple, Neem, Guava, Mango, and others, at each project site. By carefully selecting these trees, the company aims to nurture their growth into resilient entities by the time residents move into their new homes. Moreover, the presence of these trees will help establish an ecosystem by attracting birds, bees, and butterflies.
As part of the campaign, the social impact organization Hasiru Dala (Green Force) actively participated. Their representatives will be present at Provident project sites to provide sustainable solutions for the community's plastic waste disposal.
Mallanna Sasalu, the COO of Provident Housing, expressed the company's unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, saying, "We firmly believe in the adage 'No tree, no life.' At Provident, we are dedicated to providing '1 tree per home,' ensuring sustainable development and a healthier future for all our customers. We have launched this month-long campaign to prepare our projects for this commitment by planting indigenous trees on-site. Green cover significantly enhances the quality of life by improving air quality, reducing noise, and preventing the formation of heat islands."
In conclusion, Provident Housing's World Environment Month campaign, with its "1 tree per home" initiative, is a significant step towards environmental sustainability in the real estate sector. By prioritizing the planting of local tree species and engaging in community efforts for responsible waste management, Provident Housing sets an exemplary standard for green and sustainable living.
