Kichha: The future economic hub of Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand State Government has unveiled an ambitious plan to develop several new cities in a bid to drive economic growth and create employment opportunities. The initiative will kick off with the construction of a greenfield city project spread across a vast 2000-acre site in Kichha, Udham Singh Nagar. The proposed greenfield city will be strategically situated on State Highway-74, just 15km away from Rudrapur. It will also be conveniently connected to the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, adding to its potential as a significant economic hub.

Rajesh Shukla, the former BIP MLA from Kichha, revealed that the government intends to establish a knowledge park spanning an impressive 200 to 250 acres in close proximity to the greenfield city.

To materialize this ambitious plan, the state government estimates a private investment of around Rs 7,000 crore. This substantial investment is expected to generate employment opportunities for approximately 50,000 individuals and provide housing for approximately two lakh residents, significantly contributing to the region's overall development.

In a recent meeting between Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhami requested financial support from the central government to aid the development of the greenfield city in Kichha. This highlights the significance and priority given to the project at the state level.

In addition to the greenfield city project, the Union health ministry has approved a budget of Rs 700 crore for the construction of an AIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) satellite centre. Spanning 100 acres, this state-of-the-art medical facility will further bolster the importance of Kichha as a major city in the state and the country. With a comprehensive plan that includes the greenfield city, AIMS satellite centre, and the proposed Knowledge Park, Kichha is poised for economic prosperity and improved living standards, according to Rajesh Shukla.

The Uttarakhand’s state government's comprehensive plan to develop new cities signifies its commitment to foster economic growth, create employment opportunities, and enhance the overall living standards of the people.
