Ratlam district strikes blow to land mafia, 38 plot purchasers reclaim ownership

Ratlam's District Collector, Narendra Suryawanshi, revealed that in 1994, a real estate developer named Ehsan Mukati designed and sold a residential community in approximately 5 bighas of land close to Surajmal Jain Nagar. Yet, the buyers had never received legal ownership of their purchased land parcels.

The Ratlam administration undertook an assertive stand against the land mafia on Saturday, dismantling unauthorized occupation from a parcel of land earmarked for residential development. In doing so, the administration returned possession to buyers who had been tirelessly seeking to claim their rightful ownership for nearly three decades.

Back in 1994, Ehsan Mukati allegedly sold residential plots within a 5-bigha area near Surajmal Jain Nagar. Despite the transaction, the buyers were left without rightful possession, spurring grievances that eventually reached the district administration. "Recognizing the validity of the complaints raised against the developer, we took decisive action on Saturday. The operation involved clearing crops and other illicit encroachments from the area, ultimately handing possession over to all 38 plot purchasers," Collector Suryawanshi explained.

The land, with a current market valuation of approximately Rs 5 crore, was at the epicentre of the operation. Throughout the operation, Suryawanshi was on-site, supervising the process and personally overseeing the transfer of possession to the rightful buyers.

The district administration has also commenced the process of legalizing the residential colony. It intends to finance the development of essential facilities in the region by selling the remaining unoccupied plots. Suryawanshi concluded, "The local civic body is dedicated to formalizing the colony's status, which will include the development of basic infrastructure through the sale of the remaining colony plots."

In conclusion, this development marks a significant win for the 38 plot buyers who waited almost 30 years for rightful ownership. It's a bold step by the Ratlam district administration, exhibiting its firm stance against land mafia and emphasizing its commitment to uphold the rights of citizens. The initiation of the process to legalize the colony and provide essential facilities will further enhance the living conditions in the newly reclaimed residential area.
