Thane City, Maharashtra witnessed the launch of Asia's grandest cluster development initiative on Monday, June 5th. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis graced the occasion, marking an important milestone in urban development.
A whopping 45 Urban Renewal Projects, planned meticulously, are slated to rejuvenate Thane city's crumbling, unauthorized and official structures. Spanning over 1500 hectares, these schemes are a significant leap toward the city’s comprehensive infrastructural overhaul.
The all-inclusive redevelopment plan, namely the Joint Colonies Redevelopment Project, is centred on transforming deteriorating residential units into well-organized, safe complexes. A salient feature of the project is the provision of ownership houses spanning a generous 323 sq. ft for qualifying residential beneficiaries. The project intricately incorporates communal spaces for celebrations, religious activities, and social events.
In a bid to enrich community living, a spectrum of amenities such as libraries, gyms, health centres, and community centres will be made available. In a commendable move, the project will include dedicated facilities for women's empowerment inclusive of crèche facilities, and recreation hubs specifically for senior citizens. Replacing the existing narrow lanes, the plan underscores the introduction of wider, superior-quality roads.
Acclaimed architect Hafiz Contractor has been entrusted with the architectural design of this urban makeover, which promises a plethora of cutting-edge infrastructure facilities. These encompass transport, water supply, sewage and drainage systems, solid waste management, healthcare, education, sports, recreational areas, parking, and market spaces.
