Mumbai's MHADA opens lottery for 4,000+ properties across income groups

The Mumbai Board of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) kicks off its highly anticipated lottery for 4,083 residential units today. Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply by the June 26 deadline. Winners will be revealed via a computerized draw scheduled for July 18.

Property prices range from Rs 34 lakh for a compact apartment in Vikhroli to as much as Rs 7 crore for premium properties in Tardeo, with considerable options in between. The flats in question are diverse, catering to a wide range of buyers from different income brackets - the economically weaker section (EWS), low income group (LIG), middle income group (MIG), and high income group (HIG).

The EWS category is allocated the largest share with 2,790 units up for grabs. These properties, available to buyers with an annual income of up to Rs 6 lakh, are predominantly located in Pahadi, Goregaon (1,947 units), with additional options in Antop Hill (417 units) and Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli (424 units).

Meanwhile, the LIG category, designated for individuals earning up to Rs 9 lakh per annum, is offered 1,034 units. The bulk of these flats are in Pahadi Goregaon, complemented by a variety of options scattered across locations such as Dadar, Goregaon, Andheri, Ghatkopar, and more.

For MIG buyers, with an annual income cap of Rs 12 lakh, housing units are available in prime locations such as Goregaon, Juhu, Andheri, Dadar, and others. The HIG category, with no upper income limit, has access to 120 high-end flats spread across coveted neighbourhoods like Juhu, Andheri West, Lower Parel, and others.

Prospective participants are invited to register and apply through the official MHADA websites starting May 22, with the final date for application and initial payment being June 26. Winners will be announced at the Rangsharda auditorium in Bandra at 11 am on July 18, marking the culmination of this significant housing event.
