In the face of sweltering temperatures exceeding 40 degrees, a determined group of over 50 homebuyers continues their ongoing protest at Greater Noida West's Ek Murti Chowk. Despite being in the throes of the 25th week of protest, the homebuyers show no signs of backing down in their fight against protracted delays in home registries.
"We persist in our Sunday protests, challenging the government's inertia over the long-delayed registries. Despite endless assurances from local MLAs, MPs, and even the Chief Minister, our concerns as homebuyers remain unaddressed," stated Abhishek Kumar, the president of the New Era Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA).
The ongoing protest is gaining momentum as additional homebuyers from a variety of societies, including Raksha Addela, Ajnara Homes, Casa Greens 1, Eco Village 1, 2 and 3, Aarcity Residency Park, Sanskriti, Aqua Garden, Apex Golf Avenue, Elegant Ville, Aishwaryam Gaur City 2, Devika Gold Homes, and others, are joining the cause.
Despite the ever-increasing public outrage and protest, the government's seeming apathy towards the pressing issue has been disheartening for many. "The government seems oblivious to the severity of the homebuyers' concerns," said Mihir Gautam, a dedicated protester, voicing his frustration at the delayed responses.
With registries of over 60,000 homebuyers across more than 20 societies in Greater Noida West remaining unresolved, the resolve of the protesters continues to solidify. The general consensus is that unless immediate action is taken for the registration of their homes and a solution found for those waiting for over 13 years, these protests will continue to be a part of their daily lives.
The ongoing saga of homebuyers in Noida serves as a stark reminder of the often-debilitating bureaucracy plaguing citizens' rights to housing. With the protests entering their 25th week and showing no signs of abating, the urgency for resolution is now more palpable than ever. It remains to be seen how the government will respond to this growing public outcry, but until then, the determined homebuyers of Greater Noida West stand united in their quest for justice.
