DTCP issues notice to the developers of Emerald Hills over illegal construction

A notice was issued by The Department of Town and Country planning (DTCP) to the developer of Emerald Hills. They had built a commercial club on the site designated for a community centre, thereby violating the norms of the agreement with the housing society. The developer was directed to remove the unauthorized club and reply to the DTCP failing which the necessary action will be taken as per the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act 1975.The residents wish to restore the community centre so that they can continue to enjoy the premise.

 Developers of the housing society Emerald Hill in Gurugram has been reprimanded by the DTCP for violating the approved plans of the complex. The developer has constructed a commercial club on a site designated for a community centre and was also being used by non-members for weddings and other functions. The housing society was collecting a fee for the usage of the space for maintenance and upkeep of the centre and its surrounding areas.

The complaint was lodged in the office of the District Town Planner Manish Yadav by residents against the builder for tearing down the community centre and erecting an illegal commercial club in its place. Upon hearing the complaint, the DTCP directed the developer to remove the structure and appear in the office within 7 days failing which a legal action will be taken against them.

The developer is said to be cooperating with authorities and will offer a formal response to the notice shortly. He claims that all rules have been followed as per the licencing laws and as per their purview no violation has taken place.
