Maharashtra Government plans parks alongside Samruddhi Corridor for economic growth

In a recently held meet at the Sahyadri Guest House of the Revenue Miniter Vikhe Patil, officials of Maharashtra State
Farming Corporation (MSFC) were directed to create plans for multiple parks in the Samruddhi corridor project. The
Samruddhi Corridor infrastructure project is being developed in two phases, the first phase is between Nagpur and
Shirdi which is now usable. The second phase is being developed between Shirdi and Igatpur and is scheduled to be
completed within the next couple of months.
The Revenue Minister Radhakrishna stated in the meeting confirmed that the state government of Maharashtra is
laying down the ground work for multimodal logistics and business park alongside the Samruddhi Mahamarg

(Mumbai- Nagpur Expressway) with the first one being at Sonewadi near Shirdi. He also acknowledged that an empty
land at Sonewadi belonged to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and will be developed in
the near future.
The conception of this plan was to provide ample employment opportunities for entrepreneurship as well as self-
employment of local youth. A thorough study was conducted to ascertain which industries can be established and what
services can be offered before finalizing the plan.
The connectivity between the Samruddhi Corridor and the Shirdi Airport will further add to the value to multimodal
parks. The farmers as well as industries will be able to export their produce easily. The service industries like food
parks, cold storage, warehousing, and packaging too can prosper at this centre.
