The Maharashtra Housing Board, known as MHADA, recently conducted its lottery for the Konkan board, announcing the availability of 4,640 apartments and 14 plots. The event took place at Thane's Kashinath Ghanekar Auditorium, where eager participants gathered to witness the exciting announcement.
With the Konkan board of MHADA overseeing the lottery, the organization received an overwhelming response, receiving a staggering 48,805 applications for the available flats across various districts. These districts include Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Sindhudurg. The significant number of applications demonstrated the high demand for affordable housing in these areas.
In an effort to streamline the lottery process and ensure fairness, MHADA implemented a computerized lottery system called the Integrate Housing Lottery Management System (IHLMS 2.0). This system utilizes the latest technology and minimizes human involvement, ensuring an impartial selection process. By employing advanced techniques, MHADA aimed to provide a transparent and efficient lottery experience for all applicants.
Among the fortunate winners was Ashok Kondalkar, a contractual peon staff member at MHADA. Kondalkar, who had tried his luck for the fourth time and was finally able to realize his dream of owning his own apartment. Another lucky recipient, Abhijeet Shinde, aged 35 and working as a labourer in a private company in Kalwa, was the first winner of this year's lottery.
In a virtual address during the inauguration of the lottery, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his delight at witnessing the dreams of common citizens being fulfilled by MHADA. He commended the organization for its dedication to providing affordable housing and recognized the immense faith placed in MHADA by the public. The overwhelming response to this year's Konkan board draw further solidified the people's trust in the MHADA housing initiatives.
The lottery draw was broadcast live by MHADA through webcasting, allowing approximately 47,194 citizens to witness the event remotely. By embracing technology and ensuring accessibility, MHADA ensured that a wider audience could partake in the lottery process, promoting transparency and inclusivity.
