CRDA allocates additional land for house sites in Guntur and NTR districts

The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has responded to requests from the district collectors of Guntur and NTR by allocating an additional 268 acres of land. This decision comes in addition to the previous allocation of 1,134 acres of land that was designated for issuing house sites to those in need within the capital city area.

The district collectors of Guntur and NTR had separately approached the CRDA, expressing concerns about the insufficiency of available land to accommodate all the applicants requiring house sites. Acknowledging the urgency of the situation, Y Srilakshmi, the special chief secretary of municipal administration, promptly recommended that the CRDA take immediate action to allocate the requested additional land. Consequently, the Land Allotment Screening Committee (LASC) of CRDA convened last week and approved the allocation of extra land to the respective district collectors.

As per the decision, the NTR district will be granted 168 acres of land, while the Guntur district will receive 100 acres. Previously, the CRDA had allotted 584 acres to the NTR district and 550 acres to the Guntur district. The specific areas where the land has been allocated are as follows: Borupalem, Ananthavaram, and Pictchukapalem villages in the NTR district, and Nekkallu village in the Guntur district.

According to sources, NTR district collector Dilli Rao explained that the previous allocation of 584 acres would be sufficient to provide pattas (land ownership documents) to 20,684 individuals. However, an additional 168 acres are required to fulfill the pending requests from 6,055 applicants.

Similarly, Guntur district collector M Venugopala Reddy stated that the previous allocation of 550 acres was intended to benefit 19,818 individuals. However, there are still 3,417 pending applications that need to be addressed. He emphasized the need for an extra 100 acres to accommodate all the pending applications for house sites. To address the demand for housing among the impoverished population within the CRDA limits, the state government established a new zone called R-5 exclusively dedicated to granting house sites to those in need.

Taking proactive measures, the Guntur district administration has expedited the development work in the proposed layouts and aims to complete the entire project by month. Subsequently, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is scheduled to distribute the house sites to the deserving individuals this week, providing them with an opportunity to improve their living conditions and enhance their quality of life.
