Maharashtrian citizen can now amend 7/12 documents online

As part of an initiative under the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Program, the state of Maharashtra has introduced the option of being able to make changes to land records via an online portal, thereby easing the footfalls in Talathi offices and weed out middlemen. This service was first introduced two years ago during Covid but due to lack of awareness, most citizens have been largely unaware of it.

To make changes an individual must visit mahabhumi.gov.in website and click on the e-Hakk link. This link will redirect you to the public data entry portal on the website, where after registering, you can go to the 7/12 mutations section to make changes. One can choose from the ten available services, including applications for corrections, new name additions and heirship. Every service requires a corresponding scanned document to be uploaded. Once submitted, an application ID is generated which can be used to check the status of the request. The submitted applicants are sent over for assessment. The entire process from application to the changes being reflected on the website takes approximately forty days.
