UP RERA imposes fine on 13 builders over non-compliance

Earlier this week the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-RERA) slapped hefty penalties on 13 real estate developers in the state on account of ignoring orders and intentionally not complying with the pertaining laws. The authority has followed section 38/63 of the RERA Act 2016 which empowers the authority to penalise the non-compliant promoter with up to 5 percent of the total cost of the project. The collective penalties amount to approximately Rs 1.78 crores.

The UP RERA authorities are gearing up to take strict action against defaulter and non-compliant promoters. The authority wishes to create a safe environment for homebuyers and a regulated industry rather than an errant one. The penalised promoters have been given 15days to submit their report and 30days to deposit the penalty amount, failing which the amount will be recovered as arrears of land revenue. The promoter penalised are Gardenia India, Elegant Infracon, Suncity Hi-Tech Infrastructures, Rudra Buidwell Projects, Three C Green Developers, Unibera Developers, Antriksh Engineers, Logix Infrastructure, Gardenia Developers AIMS and Idea Builders.
